Don´t cry for me Argentina...it only lasted 6 days

Took one of our last (hopefully) loooong bus rides to get to Puerto Iguazu on the Argentina and Brazil border. Walking off that bus into the tropical surroundings, and feeling the warmth of the air that meant shorts and flip flops was the most fantastic feeling, like we were suddenly on holiday. Our 1 and a half months of solid winter are over and summer is here and we´re walking on sunshine, wooooaaaaa-oooohhhhh.

We spent a day exploring the falls on the Argentinian side, and the following day caught a (nice short) bus into Brazil to see them from there too. They are fantastic, huger than you can imagine, apparently there are something like 275 waterfalls in total making up the whole ´Iguazu Falls´. But its not just the falls that make it so great, its the national park of sub-tropical forest that surrounds them, and the bird life and other wildlife, that we really enjoyed. The Argentinian side has many metal walkways that you can walk along to get close up views of the raging water, sometimes even getting so close to the huge clouds of spray that you are drenched within a few seconds, and a few trails through the forest too which were lovely. The Brazilian side lets you see the falls panoramically, and a few extra parts that you are not able to see otherwise.

So now we´re in Brazil! We felt surprisingly sad to leave Spanish speaking South America, and especially Argentina, as we were only there for 6 days! It feels an age ago that we started to learn our first Spanish words, and we´ve become so comfortable with communicating in Spanish, and now that chapter has ended! Time to learn a few Portugese phrases for the last week in Latin America...and hope Brazilians don´t mind us spewing out a sort of mixed english-spanish-portugese nonsense language (with a bit of Afrikaans in there too just for fun).
